The Haptic/The Virtual - Online Exhibition and Discussion

Two of my works were selected for the open call Haptic/Virtual with Conscious Isolation. The online exhibition Instagram shows a variety of talented artists whose work explores concepts around these themes. I was lucky enough to meet these artists and have an live discussion about the show and about each others practices. Below is more information about the organisation and a link to their website and the recorded interview.

At Conscious Isolation we speak about culture and challenging ideas to do with humanity. Art does not just stop at the door of the studio nor the gallery. We speak about and call upon what is important in these difficult times. Culture expands the mind and will bring us together. The aim is to facilitate cultural dialogue and to make it as accessible to all. The group consists of fine art and design students, professional creatives and interested members of the public. We offer online lectures by creative practitioners who are at the forefront of their profession, other non art lectures with connections to fine art topics, open calls and studio visits. We also provide tutorials to art students and facilitate creative discussions and critical feedback sessions. Our platforms offer a network between creatives across disciplines and multiple locations.

Visit their website here and watch our panel discussion here

On Display...

On the back of my online residency with the Forest Arts cafe in Edinburgh, I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to display a variety of works on their main wall.

The images on aluminium fit perfectly within the space and can be seen clearly through the large glass windows. The space is currently being used as artist studios which is a fantastic support for local creatives during this time. They will be back re-opening as a cafe when it is safe to do so but for now you can enjoy the artwork from outside and make sure to come and say hi to me when i’m working away in there with fellow artists!

'Stills' - Photo Market

I had such a great weekend selling and exhibiting printed works at the Still Photography Market in Edinburgh this weekend. There were so many amazing stands with inspiring ideas for zines, prints and alternative photographic techniques, it was wonderful to meet fellow artists and chat to the public about what I do! Here are a few images!

Cooltsalon - Zine collaboration on 'Changes'

Really pleased to be involved in the collaborative project with Cooltsalon in their #3 zine edition based on the theme ‘Changes’. All artists were invited to take the ‘mother’ image provided and change it in some way, shape or form. The Zine publication will be launched in May 2020 across three cities for one week only - please read below for more information and see my submission!

Cooltsalon is a platform for ideas and creativity exchange in urban context, that originated in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2014 with a series of “1-week-only” site-specific exhibitions. Over the years, Cooltsalon’s mission has grown into giving exposure to individual voices hidden behind the collective city life. These opportunities were presented through a variety of events – from guided walks to meet local creative businesses to site-specific exhibitions with international artists. Cooltsalon is about building a sustainable network of contacts and resources, and is currently operating on 3 levels: curator, network, exposure platform.

Is there hidden beauty in technological errors?

The John Byrne Award is an online exhibition, competition, and community, welcoming people who seek a deeper understanding of the values that drive our beliefs and actions. I was really pleased to find out this morning that my entry to The John Byrne Award has now gone live on their website. Each month they hold an award for the best entry with a cash prize but whats more impressive is the variety of questions asked by artists that make you think differently about the world.

You can have a look at my entry plus many more here:

And the winner is.....

For reaching a 1000 following on instagram I ran a competition to giveaway a free print to the winner! Waterfall was one of four prints available and my friend Helen luckily won it! Here is her print which she decided to frame up. Waterfall was one of my first ‘beautiful errors’ and I am still very proud of it.

The value of money...

I was so excited to see my first commission hanging up proudly on the walls of Canter Holland Peterborough this week. This was my first commission off the back of Artrooms and I really enjoyed customising the four different designs to suit the client's needs. Here are the final four on display...which one is your favourite?
